MTV News reporter Joonas Lepistö passed away on April 8 from rapidly advancing cancer. He was 44 years old when he died.
He told about Lepistö’s passing MTV News.
In memory of the journalist, a mourning flag was raised in front of MTV’s office in Vallila, Helsinki. The matter appears from the social media publication of crime and justice reporter Rebekka Härkönen.
– Maikkar’s delivery went silent yesterday out of shock and sadness when we heard that our long-time colleague passed away from a rapidly progressing serious illness, Härkönen writes.
– Life is unfair in the way that it takes others at the age of 44, while I’m having a stupid age crisis because I’m turning 50 today. Rest in peace, always smiling Joonas.

Other colleagues and friends of Lepistö have also remembered him fondly on social media.
– My warm condolences to everyone close to Joonas, family and friends. Joonas was a really liked colleague and a very nice, warm-hearted person. A big loss for our work community, writes MTV Uutisten’s head of crime reporting and Crime scenefamiliar from the program Tiia Palmén in his Instagram stories.
– Joonas always met me with a smile on his face and was genuinely interested in what I had to say. In addition to being a gentle and joyful person, Joonas was an iron professional, for whom his special editorship was a calling from the outside and something he did with all his heart, recalls the MTV producer-presenter Jonna Kumpula in his Instagram stories.
Lepistö is remembered for his achievements as a journalist, but he is also remembered as a musician.
– You were a wonderful and kind-hearted person. You were also always on the side of the underdog and encouraged others to reach for their dreams. Have a good journey to heaven, Joonas, writes the musician on Facebook Vesa Holmala.
