The person who died on Friday night in the Mijkenbroek police cell complex in Breda is a 28-year-old woman from Roosendaal. The police announced this on Monday.
The woman was taken to the cell complex on Thursday evening. According to the police, she became unwell on Saturday morning and subsequently died. A doctor examined her and determined that the woman died in her cell.
The National Criminal Investigation Department has started an investigation under the leadership of the Zeeland-West Brabant Public Prosecution Service.
In connection with that investigation, the police or justice department cannot provide any further information about this case. It is unclear why the woman was arrested and whether something was wrong with her at the time.
