Ferrari is the first Formula 1 team to announce the date of the presentation of its 2025 car. On social media, Ferrari released a teaser image with the date February 19, 2025 and the message: “Get ready to meet our 2025 challenger.”
Although no further details were given about the location, Ferrari has traditionally held such events at its headquarters in Maranello.
The unveiling of the new Ferrari racer will take place a day after the official Formula 1 season opener at the O2 Arena in London, where all 20 drivers and ten teams will publicly reveal their liveries for the first time.
While some teams may unveil their new cars before the event in London, most are expected to schedule their presentations afterwards as pre-season testing will not begin until February 26 in Bahrain.
Ferrari enters the 2025 season aiming to win the world championship after a strong title fight with McLaren this year. The signing of Lewis Hamilton, who will compete together with Charles Leclerc, also aroused particular interest.
Formula 1: No separate presentation from Hamilton at Ferrari
However, due to the proximity between the official season opener and the Ferrari presentation, the team has ruled out a separate presentation of Hamilton as a Ferrari driver – as was the case with Michael Schumacher in 1996.
Ferrari team boss Frederic Vasseur said at an event in Maranello on Wednesday: “We have to concentrate on the season. The period between the first day and the launch is very short, it’s only a few weeks.”
“I want everyone to focus on performance. We have the launch of the championship and the launch of the car. That’s two events – more than enough.”
Ferrari has not yet decided when Hamilton will test a Ferrari for the first time. However, the team plans to give him a test drive in an earlier model – presumably the 2023 car – at the Fiorano or Maranello test track.
Vasseur explained that the timing depends on the weather, but he does not see this as a problem. “He’s not the rookie of the year, I’m not worried about that at all. We know there are a lot of procedures that need to be practiced in these few days, but he has enough experience to do it.”
“We have the advantage of the simulator in which he can simulate a race and a qualification to familiarize himself with the steering wheel and the peculiarities of the car. But that is not a problem and not the biggest challenge.”
