ROma, Jun 30. (askanews) – Celebrations and ceremonies in honor of 90th birthday of Dalai Lama in India, which falls on July 6th.
The party has several moments of prayer and recollection, starting from 30 June. Wrapped in traditional brown and yellow robes, the charismatic Tibetan spiritual leader in exile, has sat down to listen to the speeches and the songs of monks, nuns and pilgrims from all over the world to Mcleod Ganj, his residence.
Then he announced: “There will be a sort of picture within which we can talk about the continuation of the institution of the Dalai Lama”. “In this 90th birthday, even if I am 90 years old, I am physically very healthy.” In addition, he said: “The rest of my life I will dedicate it to the benefit of others, as much as possible”.
The announcement on another possible Dalai Lama after him was very expected. Tenzin Gyatso has declared that the institution will continue only if there is a popular request.
The birthday of the spiritual leader, nobel for peace, has a deep weight not only for Tibetans, also for the faithful from all over the world who see in him a symbol of non -violence, compassion and struggle for Tibetan cultural identity under Chinese domination.
