“The Crown”: The death of Lady Diana is not shown

The Netflix series The Crown will not feature the death of Princess Diana, played by Elizabeth Debicki. Deadline wrote Wednesday that the crew of The Crown is in the midst of filming season six. Work on the episode in which Diana dies is about to begin.

The series is intended to show chronologically the moments before the car crash and the resulting moments after. An alleged source on the set describes the proceedings as follows: “The car leaves the Ritz Hotel after midnight, pursued by the paparazzi and then the aftermath with the British Ambassador, then France moves into action with the Foreign Office and then the later constitutional aftermath .”

Four seasons of the series are available on Netflix in Germany. The fifth season will be released on the streaming provider on November 9th. Developed by Peter Morgan and featuring music by Hans Zimmer, the series won seven Emmys and four Golden Globes in 2021.

Actress Judy Dench, however, isn’t a fan. She complained about the show, noting, “The closer the drama gets to the present day, the freer the lines between historical accuracy and gross sensationalism seem.”

Princess Diana and Dodi Al Fayed

Princess Diana and Dodi Al-Fayed died on August 31, 1997 in a car accident in the “Pont de l’Alma” tunnel in Paris. Both were co-drivers while Henri Paul drove the car. Trever Rees-Jones, the bodyguard, was also in the car and was the sole survivor. Al-Fayed and Paul died at the scene, and Diana several hours later as a result of their injuries.

Her funeral on September 6, 1997 was one of the largest television broadcasts in history, with an estimated 2 to 2.5 billion viewers.
