The cowboy trend arrives in Linna? A stylist reveals the fashion predictions for Independence Day

Stylist Vesa Silver believes that there will be even more investment in Linna party outfits this year than in the past.

– I expect that there will be drama on the evening of Independence Day.

Sculpture

Even last year, spectacular outfits were visible on party guests.

– The castle’s festive costumes also include sculptural elements this time, says Silver.

There is no shortage of drama in sculptural and generously shaped outfits.

Body shape

Silver guesses that in addition to generously shaped outfits, the opposite, albeit equally impressive, trend will be represented: namely, the body. Silver expects to see body-hugging outfits in Linna as well.

Boho and cowboy trends

Regarding the fashion trends dominating the world, Silver believes that boho and cowboy atmospheres will also be seen at Linna’s parties.

– The cowboy trend could well be seen in the details and cuts of the outfits. Boho can be seen, for example, in flowing materials, Silver guesses.

Black

According to Silver, black is the hit color of Linna’s parties. Black in particular reflects the dark times of the world as a color.

– Social and political issues are also reflected in fashion. We want to make a statement by dressing. Black is a stylish color for party wear, even though many are afraid of it. As long as the material is right, you can make a black outfit extremely festive.

Red and other colors

In addition, Silver bets that there will be plenty of red outfits. Light, neutral tones are also used a lot at the Castle’s parties.

– You can fit one or two sequined outfits, says Silver.

Disclosure style

Wearing underwear is also a well-known party style from around the world.

– I believe that even at Linna’s parties we will see, not clothes that clearly look like underwear, but familiar, bold elements from underwear, for example lace and thin straps. It represents a certain kind of naked dress trend. A beautiful combination is, for example, a thin shoulder on one shoulder and a more sculptural one on the other side.

Silver believes that both backless dresses and leg-showing slits will be seen in the Presidential Palace as usual, even if the slits do not fit the official label.

Domestic jewelry

From time to time, individual accessories have emerged from Linna’s parties, which have been seen by numerous party guests. For example, in 2018, many guests had Havu earrings from the Finnish company Lovia hanging in their ears. This time, Silver guesses that Linna will see plenty of Kalevala jewelry – both new and classics from the archives.

Gloves

Gloves have become a hot trend at red carpet events around the world. Silver believes that they will also be seen in abundance at the Independence Day reception.

If the shoulders are cold, Silver hopes that fuzzy scarves and boleros are left at home. If your shoulders get cold easily, you should think through the whole outfit in advance.

– For warmth, you should choose something stylish that fits the whole. For example, a cape-like jacket could work for Independence Day.

According to Silver, sleeves can be a really festive element. Even one-piece suits, in which the head to toe and fingertips are dressed uniformly, have been seen around the world.

There will be plenty of guests from the entertainment side at the Linna party this year, so Silver is looking forward to how much the guests known for their bold styles will break the typical dress code of the Linna party.
