Emir Sahiti is leaving Hamburger SV. As the Hanseatic League announced, the 27-year-old offensive player is moving to Israeli Europa League participant Maccabi Tel Aviv on loan until the end of the season. The Kosovar came to HSV from Hajduk Split in August 2024 and was involved in Hamburg’s return to the Bundesliga.
This season, Sahiti was only used twice in the Bundesliga and twice in the DFB Cup. He still has a contract in Hamburg until June 2027. “I am very grateful for my time at HSV so far. Last season in particular with the promotion was a highlight for me,” Sahiti was quoted in the HSV statement.
Vincent Kompany returns to Hamburg’s Volksparkstadion for the first time as Bayern coach on Saturday. “It was a great time,” said the 39-year-old Belgian, referring to his two years at HSV from 2006 to 2008.
“HSV remains a special story for me, but also Hamburg as a city. Everyone who has lived there feels what a special city it is,” he said. Kompany sees HSV as a club with great prospects. The club is “in the process of rebuilding” as a promoted team, but has “the potential to become a huge club”. Normally HSV has to be “at the top in Germany”.
