Residual waste collection
From June onwards, residual waste will no longer be collected every week, but every two weeks. There is also a lot of criticism about this. But Bruges is no exception. This is already happening in 219 municipalities. The price of a large bag will increase considerably from 1.70 euros to 2.50 euros. But those who sort well will have to pay less. “According to all the simulations we have made, the vast majority of families will pay less. For example, if you have two children who wear pampers, the cost price will be slightly higher. But if you can get a lot out of the residual waste bag, it can be cheaper.”
Green waste becomes more expensive because you have to buy a container. De fauw points out that many things are imposed by Flanders. For example, by 2030, every Bruges resident must produce three kilos less residual waste per year.
