Fashion and inclusion

The value of this event is deeply linked to our desire for change. We are part of an industry, that of fashion, which by definition looks to the future, feeds on different stimuli and recognizes an inestimable value in diversity.“. With these words Carlo Capasa, president of CNMI, summed up the commitment of the institution he represents, an institution that has acted concretely to bring new, different voices that were once considered outsiders to the Milan Fashion Week calendar. This is the case with the project We Are Made in Italy – Black Lives Matter in Italian Fashion, through which several BIPOC designers have become part of the Milan Fashion Week calendar, thanks also to the support of leading brands such as Bottega Veneta, Fendi, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Prada, Valentino, Versace and many others.

From the coordinated work with South Africa to bring the work of 4 South African designer couples at the CNMI Fashion Hub, to the training project for hair stylists, “Inclusive Backstage“, Up to the partnership with”Fashion Minority Alliance”To educate a new generation of creatives in inclusion, the effort and search for synergies that the fashion industry has dedicated to this issue is evident. “This is the time to act, to make us all responsible with a view to progress and evolution. The task of the National Chamber of Italian Fashion is to be a collector and promoter of ideas, but also creators of concrete actions, which are a stimulus and exhortation for the entire industry, on a global level.”, Concluded Capasa.
