Central Bank: a new banknote in ₽100 will be presented in the coming months or weeks
A new banknote of 100 rubles. may submit in the coming months or weeks. This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Bank of Russia Mikhail Alekseev at a meeting of the club of economic and business journalism and the base department of the Bank of Russia of the National Research University Higher School of Economics, reports TASS.
“When a significant event happens, and one of these events will happen very soon, I think that in the coming months, maybe even weeks, there will be a press conference where a new banknote will be presented,” Alekseev said.
Last fall, he said that the process of switching to the use of a new banknote of 100 rubles. will take several months, so the banknote may appear in circulation only by the end of 2022. According to him, by 2026–2029 a significant share of the turnover of hundred rubles will be occupied by new type banknotes.

As for the design, the new 100-rouble note will feature different symbols of Moscow. Including Red Square, Zaryadye Park, Shukhov Tower and the Moscow State University building on Sparrow Hills. According to an RBC source close to the Bank of Russia, the new banknote will not feature the Apollo quadriga, located on the Bolshoi Theater building.
