The criminal case on the fact of the disappearance of a girl in the Novgorod region will be investigated by the central office of the Investigative Committee. This order was given by the chairman of the department Alexander Bastrykin, reported on the SC website.
Bastrykin instructed to find out in what conditions the children lived in families and how they were brought up, as well as “to carefully check the actions (inaction) of the guardianship authorities.”
The disappearance of a girl born in 2020 in the city of Kholm, Novgorod Region, became known on the night of January 25. During a search in the home of the mother of the missing child, “combustion products, including those similar to bone fragments,” were found in the oven, after which the woman and her roommate were detained.

On the fact of the disappearance of the child, a criminal case was opened under paragraph “c” of Part 2 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code (murder of a minor). The maximum penalty under this article is life imprisonment.
