The cabin cleaner made a fateful prediction to Jari Sillanpää in the ship’s pub: “After all, we will know the end”

Jari Sillanpää, who worked on the ship, received a fatal prophecy in the 1990s, which is told in the recent Siltsu documentary.

A four-part Siltsu documentary series about Jari Sillanpää, the tango king of 1995, will be released on MTV. In the first episode of the documentary, we return to how Sillanpää worked before his career as a singer on the Silja Line cruise ship, where he delighted ship passengers with, among other things, his karaoke performances.

On the waves, Sillanpää also received a fateful prediction, which redeemed itself over the years.

Sillanpää, who was known as a flighty companion, even came up with the popular alcoholic drink “salmari”, i.e. a strong drink flavored with salmiak, while working on a ship with his co-worker.

– Jari lived in Sweden at the time and there were berry shots like this. Then we wondered if there was any candy? Then I noticed the Turkish pepper and after tasting it I realized that this is what Sillanpää had on the ship as a colleague Anne Nilsson tells.

In the documentary, Nilsson tells how Sillanpää was quite superstitious, at least when he was younger.

– We met our former cabin cleaner in the ship’s pub and he read Jari a prediction from the cards. He predicted that Jari won’t be spinning those pints in that pub for much longer, but that he will become rich and famous.

Only two weeks passed after the fateful prediction, until Jari stopped working on the ship.

– After all, we know what became of Jari, says Nilsson proudly.

Siltsu documentary on MTV3 channel and Katsomo from Thursday, September 14. See all TV programs and broadcast times in Telku’s TV guide.
