From 2027, the United Kingdom wants to deploy an AI facial recognition tool along its borders to detect adult asylum seekers pretending to be children. Rights group Human Rights Watch is calling for the plan to be scrapped, describing it as “unproven technology” that undermines the protection vulnerable children are entitled to.
