The best of 350 euros at most: Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G
The Galaxy A52s is a great basic smartphone, because it scores well on many points. It also has a waterproof housing, which many other devices in this segment do not have. The software of this smartphone is also supported for an above-average length of time.
Its successor, the Galaxy A53, is more expensive and has no headphone port, so we rather recommend its older brother.
The screen refreshes at no less than 120 frames per second and has a high brightness, so you can swipe through websites and some apps smoothly. Support for HDR ensures that, for example, movies are played beautifully.
The cameras are very good and the main camera even offers optical image stabilization, which will help you take better photos at night. We don’t see that much with smartphones in this segment. The A52s is also capable of taking macro photos, allowing you to photograph a flower from very close by and almost see the pollen grains.
The best from 500 euros at most: Xiaomi Mi 11T Pro
The Xiaomi 11T Pro offers a lot for its price. It used to be our favorite in a higher price range, but due to a recent drop we can now recommend it in this segment. With its Snapdragon 888 processor, it is lightning fast and it also has a lot of storage.
The display looks nice and it has a high brightness, so you can easily see everything in a bright room or in the sun. Thanks to the refresh rate of 120 frames per second, surfing the internet feels very smooth.
The battery life of the device is average. When watching videos, it is eighteen hours, but if you browse the internet, you quickly arrive at ten hours. In short, you need the charger regularly. Fortunately, it does its job excellently; the phone is fully charged in half an hour, very handy if you almost have to leave the house and only have a little while to charge your smartphone.
