The best “MTV Unplugged” concerts: Westernhagen 2016

In the eighties, Westernhagen wrote songs to which one could lie in one’s arms and have great feelings in drunken nights.

The brash pathos and cocky underdogging also flashes on Westernhagen’s “Unplugged” album, for example “Less uns leben” from 1983, half of which is sung by Westernhagen’s daughter MiMi.

In “Pfefferminz” Udo Lindenberg sits on the drums, Jan Plewka sings “Mit 18”, the half-strong song.

The concert has the hits, but also less expected. It was recorded on two evenings at the Berlin Volksbühne. Directed by Fatih Akin.

MTV is showing Marius Müller-Westernhagen’s unplugged performance as part of its 30th anniversary of MTV Unplugged. Broadcast date: Sunday, August 14 at 11:15 p.m.

The current issue of ROLLING STONE has a big special on the music station’s legendary live series. A list of the top 30 MTV Unplugged albums is also included.
