Today, TV5 is showing a movie for the whole family Babe – a brave pig.

The adventure of the little pig begins when it does not have to be slaughtered, but ends up as a lottery prize.

The lottery favors sheep farmer Arthur Hoggett, who has a farm in South Wales. A clumsy but kind-hearted man names the pig Babe.

As the only pig on the farm, Babe soon realizes that it is meant to be fattened up in time. However, it has other plans. A little pig adopted by sheepdogs wants to be a shepherd himself.

Babe becomes a good shepherd and ends up in a sheep herding competition with her master at the end of the film.

Released in 1995, the Australian film received seven Oscar nominations, for which it won the award for best special effects. Babe lost the best picture award to Mel Gibson directed and starred Braveheartfor the movie.

Sheep farmer Arthur Hoggett is played by an American actor James Cromwellwhose career and lifestyle were greatly influenced by the movie Babe.

Cromwell was already mainly a vegetarian before the role, but became a vegan during the filming of the film and joined the animal rights organization Peta.

– During the project, I worked a lot with animals and animal trainers. I cared about everyone’s well-being. At lunch, everyone is there in front of you and I thought that I should take this thing to the end, Cromwell has said in an interview on the Take Part website.

The actor is known as an activist who firmly defends nature. He has protested, among other things, to the point of arrest, against animal experiments on cats.

In addition, Cromwell ended up in jail for a week after failing to pay fines. He got them after causing traffic chaos by sitting with other protesters in front of a natural gas plant that emits carbon emissions.

The movie about the little pig also inspired others to go vegetarian. Four months after the release of Babe, the Vegetarian Times magazine published an article about the problems in the pork industry, which it attributed to the release of the film.
