Trusted beautician of Hollywood stars such as Sabrina Carpenter, Demi Lovato and Lili Reinhart Renee Rouleau reveals Carpenter’s skincare philosophy.
Rouleau, who has had a career of more than 35 years as a beautician, has taught Sabrina and her other clients three important skin care rules.
Austin, Texas-based Renée Rouleau has been Sabrina Carpenter’s esthetician for over ten years. If the image is not visible, you can view it from here.
1. Visit a beautician
– I feel that people are really lost with their skin care, because they follow advice and product recommendations from the internet, social media and tiktoks. The problem lies in the fact that many of them who promote and advertise these products do not know skin, and at least not your skin, says Rouleau.
– It seems that we take advice from people we admire, when we should rather be thinking, “Is this suitable for my skin?”
According to Sabrina Carpenter’s cosmetologist, it is important to think individually about what suits each person’s skin. All Over Press
The first tip of Rouleau is to get to know your own skin as well as possible, preferably with the help of a professional.
– It’s time for people to go back to square one and find out their true skin type. Find out what exactly your skin needs and how this varies.
– Often these issues can be resolved with the help of a professional, i.e. a cosmetologist, who touches, tries and sees the condition of your skin and has the expertise in skin-related matters.

If a visit to a beautician is not possible right now, Rouleau recommends taking a skin care questionnaire made by a beautician online. This way you can go through your own skin care challenges, which helps to reveal which skin type you have.
2. Use foundation every single day
It sounds partly the opposite, because many people have been taught many times that when the skin is allowed to breathe makeup, it helps to maintain the health of the skin. However, Rouleau argues that using foundation daily is one of the best ways to protect the skin from premature aging.

– I consider foundation as a part of skin care and recommend its daily use to my clients. As a cosmetologist, my job is basically to make my clients’ skin look so good that they never need to wear foundation. And that’s what I do too. But I want people to use foundation because it protects the skin. Even if your makeup doesn’t even contain a sun protection factor, the iron oxides, i.e. cosmetic pigments found in it, add one additional layer of protection from the sun’s aging rays, he specifies.
Of course, Carpenter—as well as Rouleau’s other A-list clients—has very specific skincare concerns to consider because of their public status. All Over Press
Of course – like other skin experts – Rouleau also advocates daily use of sunscreen.
– The sun is definitely the most significant skin aging factor.
– Smoking, genes or even time do not age the skin as much as the sun. The number one cause of premature skin aging is the UV radiation your skin encounters, he emphasizes.
– Of course, you want to find a foundation suitable for your skin type, which does not cause skin problems such as impurities. But use foundation every day, advises Rouleau.
3. Follow the Golden Minute Rule
The last tip in her skin care regimen is to follow Rouleau’s “Golden 60 Seconds” rule. This means you have up to 60 seconds after washing your face to apply the next product in your skincare routine.
– If you don’t lock moisture into the skin immediately, it starts to evaporate very quickly through osmosis. It’s a process where moisture evaporates, he explains.

– Water attracts water like a magnet. And this can actually pull moisture away from your skin and transfer it to the air, making you more dehydrated. Especially if you live in a dry climate or it’s winter time, Rouleau specifies.
So don’t wait more than a minute when you add the first skin care product to your skin after cleansing.
