Confirmation is always the most difficult result. The Bad Guy (Amazon Prime Video) succeeds with class in the second season, continuing – and in some ways refining – the successful intuitions of the first.
The series, directed by Giancarlo Fontana and written among others by Ludovica Rampoldi, is a long journey in search of the blurred boundaries between good and evilwhere the roles deliberately mix and there is no shortage of twists.
Luigi Lo Cascio and Claudia Pandolfi in the second season of “The Bad Guy”
Nino Scotellaro (Luigi Lo Cascio) is a former magistrate who ends up indicted for complicity in a mafia association; he daringly manages to escape, saving himself from an accident and changes his life and identity (becoming Balduccio Remora) to dedicate himself to tracking down and killing the boss Mariano Suro (Antonio Catania) as his personal revenge.
The relationship with his wife Luvi (Claudia Pandolfi), a lawyer and daughter of a judge killed by Cosa Nostra, is complicated and will reserve dark secrets over time. From here the second season starts again, in which Scotellaro/Remora finally comes face to face with Surowhich however reveals the existence of an archive of State-Mafia negotiations.
The action revolves around these documents. The Bad Guy try to be ours breaking Bad (the most upright good turns into the most ruthless evil), while maintaining a tone of black comedy and surrealism that makes it truly unique.
For those who love complex antiheroes and a lighter, but not at all superficial, reading of Cosa Nostra.
