Chrome users may not have noticed that if the browser logs into any Google service, such as Gmail or Google Drive, the browser logs the user into Chrome at the same time. For some, the function is fine, others don’t like it at all.

By default, Chrome logs the user into a Google account every time they log into any Google service.

However, you can easily disable the link between Chrome and your Google account.

  1. Type chrome://settings/syncSetup in Chrome’s address bar and press enter
  2. Go to You and Google – Other Google services – Allow Chrome sign-in
  3. Turn the selection off

For the change to take effect, you should restart the browser. You can also log out of Chrome manually from the profile icon in the address bar. The function cannot necessarily be switched off if the user’s machine is centrally managed.

Google is currently developing a new sign-in feature for Chrome, which is already available in the developer version of Chrome Canary. The feature is otherwise the same as before, but in addition to the previous one, it also offers the “ask every time” option.
