Eight years after “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood,” one of its most iconic characters gets its own chapter: stuntman Cliff Booth returns to the screen. In “The Adventures of Cliff Booth” Brad Pitt takes center stage and once again takes on the role that once earned him an Oscar. The project brings together two of the most influential filmmakers of our time: Quentin Tarantino is writing the script and David Fincher is directing. According to current information, the film is scheduled to be released on the Netflix streaming service in 2026.
Why Tarantino is giving up directing
It is no coincidence that Tarantino directs the production. In interviews and podcast appearances, the director explained that while he loved the script, he didn’t want to go down the same path again creatively. He deliberately leaves the implementation to David Fincher, whom he considers to be one of the most important directors of his generation. Tarantino remains closely associated with the project – as a writer and producer, but without daily responsibility on set.
Cliff Booth at the center of the action
In the new film, Cliff Booth takes center stage. Instead of acting in the background as a stunt double, he now moves through the dark side of Hollywood as a so-called fixer, getting caught between scandals, power games and the less glamorous realities of the 1970s film industry. According to reports, alongside Brad Pitt, Timothy Olyphant will also be back and will once again take on the role of James Stacy. Netflix secured the project in 2025; Filming took place in California between summer 2025 and early 2026. With a budget of around 200 million US dollars, the film is one of the largest productions to date in which Tarantino is involved as an author.
Music and zeitgeist
Even if official details are still missing, many fans are once again expecting a curated soundtrack in the style of the original. “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” already relied heavily on contemporary music and radio sounds from the late 60s – an approach that could continue seamlessly into the 70s.
