Madonna doesn’t want to sell her music catalog at any price. In an interview with Variety, the singer said, “Because they’re my songs. Property is everything, isn’t it?”. In doing so, she makes it clear that she wants to continue to control her song collection internally instead of putting it in the hands of others.

Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Justin Timberlake and Bob Dylan had already achieved great financial success with their sales. However, the “Material Girl” is vehemently opposed to the sale of her song rights. Her longtime manager Guy Oseary has offered to be a buyer, among others, but Madonna turned down his offer as well.

Madonna: Her song catalog only moved in 2021

The singer inked a deal with Warner Records in 2021 to bring her entire catalog under the label’s umbrella. However, the agreement gave her more freedom for any re-editions and special releases, which she oversaw and curated. When asked what she has planned for her discography next, she said, “I’m just looking for interesting, fun ways to re-release my catalog and introduce my music to a new generation.”

Her plans also include a biopic for the big screen. She recently described her project as a “preventive strike” against “mostly misogynist men” who would often try for years to implement it. Madonna explains, “So I put my foot in the door and said, ‘No one’s going to tell my story but me.'” The title of her biopic is not yet known. The protagonist is “Ozark” actress Julia Garner. Madonna is said to have offered her the lead role, but it’s still unclear if she agreed.
