It has been known since the beginning of February that Kristen Stewart could have a chance of winning an Oscar for Best Actress for the first time in her career. The Academy nominated the 31-year-old for her role as Princess Diana in Spencer. In an interview, Stewart also spoke about which roles she had to turn down in the past.

Stewart confirmed to Slant Magazine that she had been contacted for a cameo in the new installment of the Scream series. However, she turned down the role when she learned that the role would involve a re-imagining of a well-known scene that she had no intention of surpassing.

In the interview, Stewart explained, “So it’s Drew Barrymore’s character that gets killed in the beginning. And they created a whole sequence where a lot of people were killed to emulate that scene. But it was supposed to be just one person, and I thought, ‘I can’t play Drew. I can’t touch that.” You know what I mean? But yeah, then they decided, if I remember correctly, to make it a bigger sequence and not just film one victim.”

Even before “Scream” Stewart had tried to follow in Barrymore’s footsteps. The “Twilight” actress took on one of the main roles in the reboot of “Charlie’s Angels”, which did not score well with critics and viewers. Drew Barrymore played one of the angels in the 2000 action film and sequel of the same name, alongside Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu.

The fifth part of the “Scream” series was released in German cinemas in January.
