Quentin Fillon-Maillet has had an extremely successful biathlon season. Although the Frenchman “only” came in eleventh place in the overall World Cup, the superstar won big at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Antholz. Despite his age, the veteran doesn’t want to think about ending his career yet.
“The challenge is not over yet,” said Quentin Fillon-Maillet at a press conference when asked whether he was thinking about ending his successful biathlon career. “I really enjoy what I’m doing today. I realize how much commitment it takes to keep going for four more years. But why should I stop?”
The superstar, who won three gold medals at the Olympics in Antholz, had recently emphasized to the “AFP” that he wanted to continue. The 33-year-old even wants to continue until the 2030 Winter Olympics. The exceptional French athlete does not believe that his age can become a problem
Biathlon: Fillon-Maillet looks for “stability in shooting”
“Does a French law say that if you’re over 30 you’re too old for sport? That’s not how I see it. I love training, my sport, my life. I like winning even better. So why not continue?” clarified Fillon-Maillet, who recently announced that he wanted to take a short break from training in the summer because he and his partner Lydie are expecting their first child together.
The five-time Olympic champion has a lot planned for the new season. “The first big challenge I have set for myself is to get excellent shooting statistics again. I want to get back under control of shooting and make it a strength,” he announced. In Siegfried Mazet he receives prominent support, which he very much welcomes.
“Then opportunities will open up for me, just like four years ago,” he is certain: “After that I could win a few races and even the overall ranking. As far as the time on skis is concerned, I’m more than up to the task. What I’m missing is stability in shooting.”
