Band leader Chris Martin announced a total of three new Coldplay projects. According to the singer and composer, the fans can expect special surprises. However, they should not be able to approach the recent collaboration with BTS for the hit single “My Universe”.

The most successful K-pop band ever teamed up with Coldplay for My Universe. The song was written and sung together, parts of the lyrics are in Korean. Coldplay caused a stir with this bilingual pop song, and a 13-minute short documentary was even dedicated to the production of the song.

“My Universe”: Coldplay could hardly believe it themselves

Chris Martin now explained in the podcast “Audacy” that he believes that no surprise could ever come close to this cooperation again. “It was surprising even for us,” he says, recalling the process of creation. “The development from the moment the topic came up – and I was just like, ‘How can this ever work?’ – about the song itself and the thought ‘this could be for BTS’ – until now, when it feels like the most natural collaboration in the world.”

For Martin, the song is a lesson

For him, the joint project would have had a lasting effect: “It’s a wonderful lesson for me to always keep an open mind, because you just never know what life or music has in store for you,” Martin philosophizes.

A new BTS album will be available in June, as the band recently announced. The current Coldplay record MUSIC OF THE SPHERES was released in 2021. The British are going on tour in the summer and they are also playing a few concerts in Germany. At the end of 2021, Martin announced that Coldplay albums would end in 2025, but that he could still imagine tours and collaborations. Coldplay recently released the music video for the collaboration “Let Somebody Go” together with Selena Gomez.
