While many men are looking forward to the annual drinking session on Ascension Day/Father’s Day, Campino cannot understand the hype. In an interview with the radio station “MDR Jump” he said some time ago that he cannot take this publicly cultivated, excessive alcohol consumption seriously and finds it more repulsive than stimulating:

“I don’t like it when things get so dull in the afternoon. When everyone is so drunk, but basically there is no real reason. So the carnival is much closer to me. At least people dress ridiculously.”

The 52-year-old refuses such a scheduled drinking act: “If I want to tip one behind the bandage, then I just do it and don’t wait for the day.”

On tour, however, things are different: “I then do what everyone recommends, what you should do, in order to get into the same vibe and groove as quickly as possible as the others who are standing around.”
