Uefa is again allowing standing room for the 2022/23 European Cup. Means: Union can play Europa League in the Alte Försterei! BZ answers the most important questions about how the European forestry works.

What happens first?

Those responsible for Uefa will probably come to Köpenick next week to take a look at everything. Time rushes. The group stage of the Europa League will be drawn in Istanbul on August 26th. The first two matchdays increase on September 8th and 15th.

Can Uefa roll backwards?

Probably not. Uefa even illustrated their announcement of the comeback of standing room on uefa.com with a photo showing Union fans. The biggest Union problem that only seats were allowed is gone.

Where do the iron ones have to improve?

The 2021 Uefa protocol complained about a lack of warm-up zones for players on the sidelines. Covering the concrete floor between the coaches’ benches and the baselines with artificial turf could help here. Insufficient space for Uefa and media representatives could probably be solved with containers.

How do the players think?

They are happy! attacker Sven Michael (32): “That would be goosebumps. To play Europa League here? What more do you want. The tree burns even more. This is our living room.”

Will Union move to the Olympic Stadium for a game at Hammerloser?

no All games are to take place in the forester’s office (22,012 seats). If Cristiano Ronaldo is still playing for Manchester United and Union are drawn, the world star will have to go to Köpenick. Michel laughing: “He will be happy and then he will be angry.”
