Kuntz thought beyond transfers and tables. The integration of the HSV women into HSV Fußball AG and the desired professionalization, including the move to the Volksparkstadion, represented a clear understanding: HSV should function as an overall project again.

Within a year and a half, the club was noticeably different: calmer, more resilient, more structured. Stefan Kuntz did not alone bring about this change, but he had a decisive influence on it. For a club that had been getting in its own way for years, he was the right man at the right moment. The fact that he is not reaping the fruits of his labor himself is bitter. At the same time, that is exactly his legacy: He was able to leave because the club is stable enough to continue without him.
