Thanks to Holtby: Holstein Kiel pulls away from HSV – victory for Nuremberg

Düsseldorf missed the connection

Holstein Kiel is the big winner of the 16th matchday in the 2nd Bundesliga. Kiel were the only team in the top five of the lower house to get three points and are now at the top of the table, level on points with FC St. Pauli and with a small cushion over HSV. In Elversberg, 1. FC Nürnberg managed to move up to tenth place with a win, joining four other teams that also have 24 points, only four points less than Hamburg in third place. Referee Nicolas Winter had a difficult afternoon in Rostock, where FC Schalke 04 were guests.

Lewis Holtby (18th) scored the golden goal for Holstein Kiel, which now means 32 points. On the last matchday of this year, Kiel and FC St. Pauli will fight for the autumn championship in the 2nd league next weekend.

1. FC Nürnberg has ended its small crisis in results and is back in sight of the expanded top group in the 2nd Bundesliga. After losing three competitive games recently, the “club” won 1-0 (0-0) at SVE on Sunday and now, like the promoted team, has 24 points in its account. Daichi Hayashi scored the winning goal for the Franconians in the 83rd minute.

Riots and strange sending off during Schalke’s victory in Rostock

The game between Hansa Rostock and FC Schalke 04 was interrupted for almost half an hour. Due to riots in the stands, both teams were sent to the dressing room at the end of the first half. Schalke supporters had broken through the boundary to the home area.

There was a strange scene involving referee Winter, who was only called to the monitor by the VAR after both teams had returned to the field. It was about an action by Rostock’s Júnior Brumado that occurred before the break. The striker was shown a red card half an hour late.

With the advantage, the Royal Blues then managed a 2-0 (0-0) victory and thus their second win in a row, which allowed the S04 to climb to 13th place. The goals were scored by Blendi Idrizi (72nd) and Kenan Karaman (86th).
