Thanks to Henri we keep our feet dry: ‘Brabant can sleep peacefully’

A dike army of five hundred people, including volunteers, ensures that Brabant keeps its feet dry at high tide. Henri van der Meijden is one of those dike guards who, in all weather conditions, inspects the thousand kilometers of dikes of the Rivierenland water board with his colleagues. This weekend we practiced monitoring the dikes. That is important, because at really high water you want the flood defenses to actually hold back the water.
