The municipality of Texel previously conducted an experience examination among the Texelaars about the number of tourists and the crowds on the island. The island board is of the opinion that too many guests will be on the island and that something has to be done to turn the tide. But what do the biggest accommodation provider, a fisherman and the director of the VVV actually think about that?
“In 2024 there were fewer bookings,” says VVV director Frank Spooren. “And that is not only with the accommodations in which the VVV mediates, but in the total accommodation sector.” The figures from Ferry Service Teso show a different image, because there is a slight increase in transport. Spooren has an explanation for that. “The number of day trippers has risen sharply and there was also an increase in work traffic. But there were fewer tourists who stayed on the island for several days.
