Texel police turn out: kangaroo hops through meadow

The Texel police received a special report this afternoon: whether they could catch a kangaroo. The officers did not turn their backs on this pursuit and rushed to the report.

“Somewhat cynically, we went to the spot where we heard the reporter’s story,” the police wrote on Facebook. There was also some doubt there, until the kangaroo suddenly jumped by. It turned out to be a Parma wallaby, a kangaroo species that occurs naturally in eastern Australia. It is the smallest of its kind.

The police enlisted the help of the nearby animal shelter. Reception staff quickly arrived on the scene and managed to catch the hopping animal. They now take care of the Parma wallaby.
