Chicago Blackhawks’ Finnish forward Teuvo Teräväinen was in great shape when the Blackhawks faced the New York Islanders.
Teräväinen, 30, collected two assist points and scored one goal in the match. The Blackhawks won the match 5–3.
Chicago’s Ilja Mikheyev opened the scoring in the first period. The Russian striker’s goal was assisted by Teräväinen. Islanders’ Ryan Pulock tied the game in 18:43, but 20 seconds before the end of the period, Teräväinen set up Taylor Hall’s 2–1 goal.
In the second set, the Islanders continued to press, and Simon Holmström managed to level the match at 2–2. However, Teräväinen shot directly from Connor Bedard’s pass, and Chicago led at the second break.

The third period started badly for Chicago, when the Islanders’ Noah Dobson tied the game after only 47 seconds. The match remained even until the final minutes. Eventually, Bedard hit a 4-3 shot, and Connor Murphy finished the game by slamming the puck into the Islanders’ empty net.
The last time Teräväinen managed to score was on November 28 against the Dallas Stars. Thus, there were eight goalless matches in between. In the current season, the attacker has scored 7+9=16 in 31 matches.
Teräväinen was previously selected for the Finnish team for the 4 Nations Face-Off super tournament to be played in February.
