Tesla CEO Robyn Denholm hinted in a recent interview with CNBC that there are “a few more vehicles” in the works. What could be behind it? New models, cheaper variants or even completely new concepts – an overview of Tesla’s possible next steps.
• Cheaper versions of existing models
• Rumors about Model 2, hope for a “cyber SUV”
• Developments at Robotaxi and Tesla Semi
New standard versions already presented
On October 7, 2025, Tesla introduced the new standard versions of the Model 3 and Model Y. According to a report by Teslarati, the new variants are cheaper than the previous models as they forego some premium elements such as the glass roof, leather seats and the rear seat touchscreen. The first deliveries are already starting. It’s quite possible that Tesla CEO Robyn Denholm was referring precisely to these new entry-level models in her CNBC interview.
Rumors about “Model 2” persist
Speculation has been circulating for years about a compact and significantly cheaper Tesla model – the so-called “Model 2”. With a targeted price of around 25,000 US dollars, the aim is to reach new customer groups who previously could not afford a Tesla. However, the manufacturer currently seems to have other priorities: The focus is increasingly on autonomous driving functions and robotaxi projects, such as the planned “Cybercab”, as Teslarati further reports. An imminent market launch of the Model 2 is therefore considered rather unlikely.
Fans hope for a “cyber SUV”
In addition to the Model 2, a possible “cyber SUV” is also a topic of conversation. In a short clip, an SUV in the angular Cybertruck style could be seen – apparently next to a Model 3 prototype. Many Tesla fans want a large SUV that falls into the same category as the Ford Expedition or Chevy Tahoe. Although the Model X already offers a lot of space, some customers don’t see it as a real replacement. Chief designer Franz von Holzhausen confirmed in September that Tesla was considering both a cyber SUV and a smaller pickup truck concept, according to Teslarati.
Cybercab and Tesla Semi in focus from 2026
Many Tesla fans are eagerly awaiting new models that will complement the current offering. At the same time, the company is working on vehicles that are less geared towards the consumer market and more towards new mobility concepts such as autonomous taxis and heavy commercial vehicles. According to a report by Teslamag, series production of the autonomous Cybercab is on schedule from 2026. Elon Musk stated at the analyst conference on the third quarter results that production of the two-seater should start in the second quarter of 2026. According to Teslamag, the same applies to the Tesla Semi, which has so far only been delivered in small numbers to test customers such as PepsiCo.
Small steps before big visions
Tesla is likely to bring cheaper versions of existing models onto the market in the near future. In the medium to long term, completely new vehicle types could follow with a Model 2 or a Cybertruck-based SUV – depending on how much the company concentrates its resources on autonomous mobility, the Tesla Semi and robotaxis.
It remains exciting for investors to see whether new models could stimulate demand again, and thus Tesla shares.
