The Moldovan club FC Zimbru comes with a terrible statement about Donny van Iperen. The defender from Sint Pancras has been in a coma since Saturday after a hard collision on the field. On Sunday there were still positive reports, but director Sergiu Topor is now coming back to that.
“Unfortunately, the situation has remained bad since and until now, as there has been no material improvement in the player’s health.”
Family in Moldova
The club also says that Van Iperen has not had a brain haemorrhage and that no surgery is required. There is now also a family of the North Holland defender in Moldova. “The situation regarding Donny’s health is very difficult, my brother is still in a coma. We pray that he finds the strength to recover. The family is grateful for the support of the club, the fans and everyone involved in supporting Donny. He is a football fighter on and off the field! And in these moments he proves more than ever how strong he is”, his brother Joey van Iperen said.
FC Zimbru will play again on Saturday. The club says that all income from that match will go to the treatment of Van Iperen. Van Iperen previously played for AZ and Telstar, among others. He played in Greece for the past two years before moving to FC Zimbru.
