Tens of thousands of entrepreneurs give up | Financial

Entrepreneurs with an online store in particular gave up: a total of almost 7,000 stopped. The curtain also fell for thousands of organizational consultancy firms, financial holdings and construction companies.

debt

Many entrepreneurs do not wait for bankruptcy. They no longer see a future for their company or cannot find anyone to take over the business. Some companies have built up so much debt during the corona crisis that paying it off seems impossible. According to Koninklijke Horeca Nederland, many entrepreneurs in the catering industry would like to give up because of this.

The fact that this does not always happen can be explained by the residual debt that entrepreneurs are left with. They are also not always able to pay the transition payment for their staff. There is still no special stopping scheme, which MKB Nederland and entrepreneurs’ organization ONL have been advocating for some time in the cabinet.

Incidentally, most of the companies that were closed are sole proprietorships. At just over 12,000 companies, one or more employees also lost their jobs.

bankrupt

According to the CBS, the number of companies that were declared bankrupt has still been lower in recent months than before corona, although the figure is slowly rising. In the past six months, 961 companies went bankrupt. That was a fraction more than in the same period last year.
