On the court, Aryna Sabalenka is currently the best tennis player in the world. Now she wants to make her happiness perfect off the court too.
Tennis world number one Aryna Sabalenka has gotten engaged. A video that the 27-year-old posted on Instagram shows her boyfriend Georgios Frangulis proposing to her. In a sea of flowers and candles, apparently in front of a pool, the 37-year-old entrepreneur kneels in front of the tennis star and presents the small box with the ring.
Sabalenka is visibly overwhelmed by the moment and covers her face with her hands. After a short cut, you can see the couple lying happily in each other’s arms. In another shot, Frangulis holds Sabalenka’s hand, on whose finger you can see the ring with a large gemstone. In the video, Sabalenka writes “You & me, forever”, the date of the engagement, March 3, 2026, as well as an infinity sign, a ring and a white heart.
Numerous celebrities congratulate the video, including Sabalenka’s good friend, tennis player Paula Badosa, men’s world number one Carlos Alcaraz, tennis professionals Ben Shelton, Anna Kalinskaya, Eva Lys and Amanda Anisimova, as well as actress Eiza González, whose boyfriend Grigor Dimitrov is also a tennis professional.
It was only in January that Sabalenka gave a friendly note to her partner at the tennis tournament in Brisbane. After winning the final, she also thanked Frangulis in her victory speech. With a laugh, she said, “Thanks to my boyfriend. Hopefully I can call you something else soon. I’m just putting a little pressure on it,” hinting that she was expecting a marriage proposal. Frangulis and the audience laughed heartily at the remark. Just two months later, the Brazilian fulfilled her wish.
Sabalenka and Frangulis have been a couple for around two years. Since then, the entrepreneur has accompanied her to almost all tennis tournaments, including most recently the Australian Open in January, where the Belarusian reached the final. In total, Sabalenka has already won 22 WTA tournaments in her career; Her balance sheet also includes four Grand Slam titles at the Australian Open 2023 and 2024 and at the US Open 2024 and 2025. Their love story is certainly an eventful one: in March 2024, Sabalenka’s ex-boyfriend, the former hockey player Konstantin Koltsov, committed suicide.
