Tennis player Tamara Korpatsch has reached the semi-finals of the WTA tournament in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
The 30-year-old from Hamburg won the quarterfinals against Caty McNally (USA/No. 6) in two sets 6:4, 6:2. This means that Korpatsch is in the semi-finals for the first time at the $283,347 tournament.
Korpatsch had previously beaten second-seeded Emiliana Arango from Colombia and Anna Siskova (Czech Republic). After the early defeats of Mona Barthel and Tatjana Maria, the world rankings are 124th. still the last remaining German in the competition.
Even though Korpatsch was only able to use three of her 15 break points, she secured the first set after 1:17 hours. Korpatsch had less trouble in the second set.
In the semi-finals, Korpatsch will face France’s Diane Perry on Friday (6 p.m./Sky).
