Tennis player Max Houkes loses first professional final

TENNIS – Max Houkes from Sleen failed to win his first professional final. In the final battle of the ITF tournament in Innsbruck, Austrian Sandro Klopp was too strong in three sets: 5-7, 6-1, 6-2.

Houkes, 22, has been in good shape for some time now. Last month he won the Dr. Van Leeuwen Tournament in Emmen, a tournament without ITF status. Earlier this month, in the second round of the Dutch Open, he defeated a player in the top 100 of the world ranking, the Spaniard Carlos Taberner.

This morning’s opponent is number 693 on the ATP ranking, Houkes himself is on that list in place 621.
