After his farewell to tennis, Rafael Nadal is happy about the birth of his second child. He and his wife choose a name with a sad story.

Tennis legend Rafael Nadal and his wife Maria Francisca Perelló (called Xisca) have become parents for the second time. As Spanish media report, her second son was born on August 7 in a hospital on her home island of Mallorca.

Both Mother Xisca and the baby have already left the hospital. The couple’s first son was born in October 2022. Like his father, he bears the name Rafael.

The second son now bears the name Miquel. The choice of the name has a sad background. She is dedicated to the Xisca’s father, who died in April 2023 at the age of 63.

As the Spanish media continue to report, the pregnancy of Xisca is said to have gone without any problems. Complications are said to have occurred at the first pregnancy.

Nadal and Xisca got to know each other in Mallorca in youth and have been a couple since 2005. After 14 years of relationship, they married in a castle in the north of Mallorca in October 2019.

Rafael Nadal is one of the best tennis players ever. In his career, he won a total of 92 titles in singles, including 22 wins at Grand-Slam tournaments. In total, he was also at the top of the world rankings for 209 weeks and won the gold medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. His rivalry with Novak Djoković (24 Grand Slam title) and Roger Federer (20 Grand Slam titles) shaped the tennis for years. Together they entered the history books as “Big Three”. In November 2024, Nadal ended his career.
