The world tennis pros face their first win at the Laver Cup after Novak Djokovic lost his singles.
Before the final two singles, team leader John McEnroe’s team is 10:8 ahead of Team Europe. On Sunday, Felix Auger-Aliassime surprisingly prevailed against the Serbian Novak Djokovic 6: 3, 7: 6 (7: 3) and thus put the world selection in the lead.
The Canadian had previously won in doubles alongside American Jack Sock against Italian Matteo Berrettini and Briton Andy Murray.
So far, the European selection had always won
On the last day of the team competition, three points are awarded for each win. After the second day, Team Europe was still leading 8:4. In the final two singles in the evening, the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas and the American Frances Tiafoe as well as Casper Ruud from Norway and Taylor Fritz from the USA will meet.
The previous four events had always won the European selection. This year’s edition is all about the farewell to Roger Federer, who ended his career on Friday.
