As of: 09/24/2022 9:59 p.m

Thanks to Novak Djokovic, Team Europe is back in the lead at the Laver Cup on matchday two before the doubles. The Serb won his singles duel with the rest of the tennis world on Saturday (September 24th, 2022) in London against the American Frances Tiafoe 6: 1, 6: 3 and made it 6: 4.

Matteo Berrettini (Italy) had also previously won against Felix Auger-Aliassime (Canada) 7: 6 (13:11), 4: 6, 10: 7, but Cameron Norrie (Great Britain) conceded with a 1: 6, 6: 4 , 8:10 against Taylor Fritz (USA) equalized.

In doubles, Berrettini and Djokovic can increase to 8: 4 against Jack Sock/Alex de Minaur (USA/Australia) late in the evening. In the Laver Cup, there is one point for every win on the first day, two points on the second day and three points on the third day. The winner is the first team to get 13 points.

Federer and Nadal no longer there

Berrettini is playing in London in place of superstar Roger Federer of Switzerland, who, due to a knee problem that is forcing him to retire, had only played and lost a doubles match alongside his long-time Spanish rival Rafael Nadal when he left the tennis stage on Friday.

Nadal also withdrew after the start for “personal reasons”, Norrie plays for him in the invitation tournament.
