Tennis star Emma Raducanu’s seemingly endless search for the right coach continues. The Russian Dmitry Tursunov has now ended his collaboration with the British.
After Emma Raducanu had already separated from three coaches in the last 16 months, coach number four left the young Briton’s camp in the form of former professional Dmitry Tursunov.
Tursunov ended the cooperation of his own accord and, according to information from the British “Times”, will take care of another professional player in the future. It is not known who this is about. The report only states that the Russian, who formed a team with Anett Kontaveit before Raducanu, will start his new job as early as next week.
Raducanu has meanwhile added a prominent name to her supervisor staff. In the future, the well-known athletics trainer Jez Green will take care of the physical fitness of the 19-year-old.
Green worked with Andy Murray from 2007 to 2014 and turned the Scot into one of the fittest players on the tour. The 50-year-old Englishman then looked after Alexander Zverev, Karolina Pliskova and Dominic Thiem, among others.
Crash in the tennis world rankings
The lack of fitness has always been a major problem for the 2021 US Open winner in recent months. Minor and major injuries kept throwing Raducanu off track and prevented her from reaching her best form. The result was many premature defeats. In three of the four Grand Slams, the teenager was eliminated in the second round. Her mission to defend her title in New York ended in the first round.
In the meantime, Raducanu has fallen to 68th place in the world rankings. She achieved her best placing in the summer of 2022, when she was briefly ranked tenth. A place she would happily return to under her next, then fifth coach in the last year and a half.
