Daniel Altmaier is currently on position 68 of the ATP world rankings and this year had to fight for the main field several times through the qualification. The 26-year-old showed his best performance of the year in Marseille and Rotterdam, where he came under the eight best players. At the Masters tournament in Monte Carlo, the German also worked through the qualification and even gave it up to the third round before moving against Carlos Alcaraz (3: 6, 1: 6).

Zverev started the calendar year 2025, eight of its first nine matches won and reached the final at the Australian Open. Afterwards, the world ranking in third has cooled down and only won six of the twelve following pairings. His prelude to the BMW Open was quite optimal (6: 4, 6: 1 vs. Alexandre Muller).
