And they are three. Luciano Darderi also wins the ATP 250 of Umago and makes a trio of tournaments won in 2025, after Marrakesh and Bastad, conquered last week. The Italian, at the fourth tournament won in his career, dominated the final, beating 6-3 6-3 the Spaniard Taberner in an hour and 27 minutes, becoming the fourth player of history to win this single tournament (after Fognini, Cecchinato and Sinner in 2022).

ranking

From Monday it will be 35 in the world, getting closer and closer to his best ranking (32nd position). Taberner, at the first final, resisted as long as he could, but the Italian-Argentine proved too higher in every part of the field, with a heaviness of balls other than Spanish. The rain was partner of the match causing a little delay at the beginning and two interruptions, but did not condition the meeting much, despite some Taberner protests.

the challenge

First set where, after an equal start, Darderi placed the decisive paw in the sixth game, when at the first break ball he pulled a deadly straight on the line, which earned him the decisive break for the first fraction, won 6-3. In the second set Darderi places the break in the fifth game, forcing the Taberner error after an arm wrestling on the reverse diagonal. Out of 5-3 then Luciano places another break, the decisive one, which delivers the title. With three successes in 2025 Darderi becomes Italian with multiple tournaments won by the year, in front of Sinner (obviously the two Slam have a different specific weight) and Cobolli. From Monday it will be the number 4 of Italy. Not really bad. For Italy it is the 105th title of the Open era, the seventh of 2025.
