Tender for solar systems oversubscribed again

FRANKFURT (Dow Jones)–The latest tender for solar energy was again oversubscribed despite the significant increase in the tender volume. The tender for biomass plants was meanwhile clearly signed.

As reported by the Federal Network Agency, 209 bids with a volume of 1,116 MW were submitted for a tendered quantity of 1,108 megawatts (MW) for solar systems in the first segment. Of these, 201 bids for 1,084 MW were accepted. Eight bids were excluded from the procedure due to formal errors.

The largest volume awarded was bids from Bavaria with 488 MW, followed by Rhineland-Palatinate with 223 MW, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with 67 MW and Saarland with 66 MW.

According to the announcement, the determined surcharge values ​​were between 4.05 cents per kilowatt hour and 5.55 cents. The average volume-weighted surcharge value was 5.19 cents per kilowatt hour and thus above the value of the previous round of 5.00 cents.

In the tender for biomass plants, 76 bids for 81 MW were submitted for a tendered quantity of 275 MW. A total of 56 bids for 68 MW were successful. The bid values ​​of the accepted bids were between 12.18 cents per kilowatt hour and 18.00 cents. The average, volume-weighted award value was 15.75 cents per kilowatt hour and has therefore fallen significantly compared to the previous rounds.

The next round of tenders for solar systems in the first segment will take place on June 1, 2022 and for biomass systems on September 1, 2022.
