The time of Eric dier at Bayern soon seems to be running. Apparently the bosses want a new chief of defense.
FC Bayern apparently is planning a change in defense. According to information from the “Sport Bild”, the tendency of the club tour is probably not to extend Eric dier’s expiring contract. Instead, a new central defender with a regular player should be obliged.
Eric dier, who has so far been the first alternative in the defense, would have to make room. The 49-time English international enjoys a high appreciation in the team, but coach Vincent Kompany is currently relying on the duo Dayot Upamecano and Minjae Kim. While Upamecano is playing a constant season, Kim has been fighting Achilles tendon problems for weeks and has recently done more frequent mistakes.
According to “Sport Bild”, Jonathan Tah (28) is still a possible new addition to the Bayern defensive. After a change last summer had not come about, a transfer to FC Barcelona recently made itself. However, this has not yet been carried out. Since Tah would be free of charge in the summer and will not extend his contract at Bayer Leverkusen, he could be an attractive option for Bayern.
A few weeks ago, record national player Lothar Matthäus said: “In my view, it was a mistake to make Jonathan Tah’s transfer fail at five million euros last summer.” Sports board member Max Eberl could not convince the supervisory board at the time. However, Tah would be attractive for Bayern: he has the potential to conduct the defense against the record champions and to develop into a leading player in Munich.
