Telstar trainer Mike Snoei: “Have to be a louse in the pelt again”

The new season in the first division starts for Telstar on Monday. The team of trainer Mike Snoei will then visit Young Ajax in Amsterdam. Prune is happy that it can finally start after a long preparation. “We are now going to play for the points and then you hope that everything will work out as well as possible.”

“There are no more easy matches. On Friday evening I enjoyed Jong PSV against the well-known title candidate Willem II. They play a draw with pain and difficulty,” says Snoei about the strength of the first division this season. “There are no more weak brothers in it. We have to sell ourselves well. We have to be that louse in the pelt again. If we do that with guts and flair, then I see it for sure. Also against Jong Ajax on Monday evening.”

Pruning can have an almost completely fit selection. Only Özgür Aktas is missing due to an injury. In addition, Prune can no longer use making Ozan Kökcü. The midfielder signed a contract with FC Eindhoven this morning. “A big compliment for Telstar and for Ozan. It’s a shame he’s gone, but it gives new opportunities for other guys. Cas Dijkstra could play as an attacking midfielder, but also Tom Overtoom.”

Two strikers

Opposite the departure of Kökcü was the arrival of Koen Blommestijn. The striker is rented from FC Volendam and can make his debut on Monday. “The division of roles between Glynor Plet and Blommestijn still has to take shape. But good football players always fit together,” says Snoei about the possible debut of Blommestijn. “Whether we are going to play with three attackers next to each other or with two in the front and one below, we will see. We aim to have Blommestijn there on Monday.”

The duel between Jong Ajax and Telstar can be followed live on Monday evening via an extra radio broadcast on NH Radio. The kick-off in Amsterdam is at 8 p.m. The preview of NH Sport starts an hour earlier.
