In the draw for the first round of the KNVB Cup, FC Volendam is paired with second division player Excelsior Maassluis. Telstar visits GVVV from Veenendaal. AZ and Ajax have not yet been drawn in this round due to European obligations.
In addition to FC Volendam and Telstar, there were more North Holland teams in the pipeline. Royal HFC from Haarlem will compete against Go Ahead Eagles. The Beverwijk DEM can play against Hoogeveen and AFC receives PEC Zwolle in Amsterdam. The amateurs of RKAV Volendam also participate in the main tournament and visit Eemdijk.
