The professional football prosecutor had initially punished Hamdaoui with a three-match suspension. Telstar did not agree to that proposal and went to the KNVB disciplinary committee. He made his ruling today.
“We note that Hamdaoui moved his arm back with force and hit an FC Twente player (Kristian Hlynsson, ed.) near the neck/chin,” the body wrote in a response.
“The disciplinary committee takes into account, among other things, that the hitting movement in the match was a response to the FC Twente player’s prolonged pulling.” The disciplinary committee therefore reduces the punishment by one match.
