Telstar holds up nicely and beats Roda JC

Telstar managed to win again. The White Lions scored twice in the first fifteen minutes against Roda JC. In the end, that turned out to be enough for the win: 2-1 David Min, Glynor Plet and Dylan Vente scored the goals.

Telstar’s line-up was unchanged compared to the won match against Jong PSV. Supporters of Roda JC were missing in Velsen-Zuid. The hard core had misbehaved against VVV-Venlo in such a way that the local triangle did not dare to let them come to Velsen-Zuid.

Transfer Plet

David Min suddenly came face to face with Moritz Nicolas in the 12th minute due to a nice transfer from Glynor Plet. The RKC mercenary cut out the goalkeeper in a controlled manner and shot in hard: 1-0.

A few minutes later, the White Lions’ lead was doubled. Roda’s Lennerd Daneels threw himself in front of a cross from Jonathan Mulder. According to referee Pol van Boekel, Daneels made hands and gave Telstar a penalty. Glynor Plet gratefully took advantage of the opportunity: 2-0.

With that, the Velsenaren were sitting on roses within fifteen minutes. A free kick by Christos Giousis then went just over, while Jonathan Mulder also aimed too high. Roda could only counter this with a weak shot from Bryan Limbombe.

Do bark, don’t bite

The Limburgers created the first danger in the second half. An attempt by Romano Postema went just wide. That turned out to be the starting signal for a phase in which Roda was emphatically looking for the connecting goal. Telstar had a hard time, but remained upright. On the other hand, Plet just couldn’t reach a cross for Giousis, which gave Roda hope. Only in the 94th minute did the top scorer of the first division, Dylan Vente, pass Ronald Koeman Jr.. The 2-1 came too late to make it exciting.

Telstar therefore won for the second week in a row. Jong PSV was the opponent in the previous match. The victory lifts the White Lions to joint tenth place. Young Ajax has the same number of points, but a better goal difference (+2 at -5).

Setup Telstar: Koeman; Kruiver, Apau, Aktas, Blackson, Mulder; Overtoom (Van Wetten/89), Najah; Min, Plet (Ainsalu/74), Giousis
